Transformers (4)
'...Let God transform you into a new person...' Romans 12:2
There's a guy in the Bible called Hosea who helps us understand how difficult the struggle between conforming and transforming can be.
His wife's actions caused Hosea to became the talk of the town - he was the scandal everyone was gossiping about, and so the conform or transform struggle began; He wanted to kill her, he wanted to forgive her. He wanted to divorce her and have nothing to do with her, he wanted to take her back and be together again.
She shamed and humiliated him but he chose not to conform. Against all the odds, he transformed to love her and keep on loving her. She made him the joke of the community, yet he allowed God to change him and was able to give his wife more than she deserved. His transformation enabled a nation back then (and millions since), to see a God who loves us unconditionally.
Be a transformer - it's off the scale what God can do through you when you '...take your everyday, ordinary life - your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life - and place it before God as an offering.
Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognise what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it ... God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you' (vv. 1,2 TM).
