Start Small, End Big
'Do not despise ... small beginnings' Zechariah 4:10
Walking along the road you see a penny on the floor - what do you do? Walk past it, leave it where it is - after all it's only a penny, why bother? What would happen if that penny was a 20 pound note? Would you walk away ignoring that? You'd want to pick it up wouldn't you? You'd want to do something about it, you couldn't just leave it lying there - it's worth something!
In a world that constantly says, 'bigger is better' it's easy to ignore the little things in life. It's easy to think; you can't do anything because you don't have enough, aren't talented enough, or don't know enough.
It's easy to get fed up, frustrated and pack-in doing things because it's taking too long, you feel you're not getting anywhere, or your efforts aren't amounting to much.
The Bible says, 'Do not despise ... small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.' God always sees the potential in you, so notice the small things, take care of the little things, do the tiny things you can do. You'll find they are just as valuable, and just as important. All things that become great started small.
Do this for others too: start passing on small words of encouragement and compliments. Watch how attitudes change as others see you seeking to build them up, rather than trying to tear them down. Little things like a word of encouragement can help others achieve their massive potential.
