'If you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property...' Luke 16:12

The grown-ups of the house are off for a wet weekend in Rhyl, which means you're in charge - so what do you do?

A) Invite the lads and ladies round to trash the gaff with beer-cans, cigarette butts and canoodling couples.

B) Stay at Auntie Pam's for the next 48 hours - that way you won't have to wash a single pot.

Or C) Call in the sixty minute make-over team to nail down a new carpet and dab a lick of paint to the walls.

Those entrepreneurs who answered C get a 'well done good and faithful servant'!

Luke 25:14-30 tells the story of a business man who entrusted his wealth to his servants. The slacker is rewarded with a ticking off, whereas the entrepreneurs are given a promotion. Jesus seems to be saying that when you make the most of what you've been given, you are rewarded.

First, you'll be given commendation: 'Well done, good and faithful servant!' Next, you'll receive promotion: 'I will put you in charge of many things.' Finally, you'll be honoured with a celebration: 'Come and share your master's happiness.'

God doesn't want us trashing His planet with our careless living. Jesus said, 'And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property, who will give you property of your own?' (Luke 11:12 NIV). Bottom line: you won't get what you want until you've learned to use what you've already got.
