OPEN YOUR EYES
''...Lord, open his eyes so he may see ...'' 2 Kings 6:17
'Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere...', wrote David (Psalm 84:10 NIV) How right he was. Ever felt like you can get entirely lost in your own head? So confused you can't see the wood for the trees? Questioning God, questioning yourself, wondering how you got so far away from that far off peaceful place?
Perspective is all-important to our sense of peace. When your mind's not peaceful, it's easy to choose to look at your life and situations with the world's specs on.
We need to reach for our God-glasses instead. By looking with the world's specs, we are just looking at a reality without God in the midst of it. But if we dare to trust God and look on our troubling or tricky circumstances with God-glasses, however pointless or ridiculous that can seem to others, we can see and witness God's protection.
Better than any bifocals, we can see God's protection rather than the world's danger and feel God's peace over the world's fear. It's so important to spend time with your Christian friends to remind you what specs to put on. Just like Elisha did with his servant (read the story in 2 Kings 6:8-23), we need to pray for one another.
What now?
Talk to God. Whether you need to say sorry for wearing the world's specs or be more public with your God-POV, you can get all the strength you need from Him.
