More Than Conquerors (3)

'Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ...' 2 Corinthians 2:14

Have you been hoping and praying for a friend of yours to become a Christian? Invited them to church but they've informed you they're washing their hair instead? Tried to be a good witness and crowbar God in to conversation at every available opportunity; but still not even a jot of interest?

You're not alone if you're feeling the pangs of disappointment: Isaac's son Esau rejected God even though his other son Jacob surrendered to God. The prophet Samuel's sons were out for what they could get for themselves, accepting bribes and perverting justice. In fact, history is full of people sadly rejecting God's salvation plan.

We can end up discouraged if we take the matter to heart too much. So, before we get too down about it all, let's consider three important lessons about salvation.

1) God alone can save. As Jonah sat in the intestine of a large fish contemplating his own actions, he had revelation of this truth: 'Salvation comes from the Lord' (Jonah 2:9). Don't take on guilt that isn't yours. Because God is so great, He knows exactly how and when to close the deal for your mates.

2) 'Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all he has done' (Philippians 4:6). Your part is to pray and believe God for your mate's salvation, then hand over the burden to God.

3) If they're alive, there's hope! God is bigger than stubborn hearts and people's circumstances, if only you will trust Him.
