Listen to the coach!
'They go from strength to strength' Psalm 84:7
'Going from strength to strength'. Sounds like a pretty good plan really, doesn't it? I mean, who wants to go from weakness to weakness? Erm, no one! So, how do you actually achieve going from 'strength to strength'?
Well, it's all about growing, changing and building up the right muscles. Think about all the athletes training for the 2012 Olympics for a minute. When they're working out and training, they'll all have coaches nearby, won't they? It's the job of the coach to point out where an athlete's strengths and weaknesses are, tell them where they're going wrong, and what to change to get better. The athlete chooses whether to pay any attention to the coach or not - but chances are, if they don't, they won't become the best.
The coach is an expert, and only suggests changes and training to help them get better. Yeah, it'll probably be hard work, and involve them trying new things, and scrapping old ways they thought were good. But if they're committed to being the best, they'll listen to the coach, and they'll likely get better.
What's that got to do with you? Well, you may not be training for the Olympics, but you do have a top-class coach watching your every move, just waiting to give you advice. He is helping you to become the best by changing the way you're doing things, and go from strength to strength. Who? Well, duh! God the Holy Spirit. So what are you waiting for - ask Him to coach you today.
