Learning To Focus On Jesus
'I have set the Lord always before me' Psalm 16:8
We're quick at checking our Facebook and we don't it like when we forget to charge our phone. Why? Because we want to be easily contactable and want to stay 'in the loop' at all times.
It's a shame we don't have quite have that same urgency with God. Be honest, if God were a friend on Facebook, how often would you write on his wall? If Jesus was a contact in your phone, how often would you ring? Any second of any day, without internet connection or top-up credit, you are able to contact God.
All the evidence of history shows much prayer equals much blessing; little prayer equals little blessing. So why do we exercise our fingers on Facebook Chat but doze when it comes to clasping them in prayer?
Frank Laubach wrote, 'You'll think more clearly by including God. At mealtime put an extra chair at the table to remind you He's always present. Set a picture of Jesus or a scripture where you'll see it as you're falling asleep and waking up. Count on it - this will set the tone for your day.'
Nobody's saying you have to become technological, but how about channelling some of that Facebook devotion God's way? How about staying in regular contact with your creator? Update your God status, write on His wall today and 'know the Lord is always with [you].' (Ps. 16:8 NLT).
