Keep Your Priorities in Place
'...I must be about my Father's business' Luke 2:49
Choices, choices: Sandals or flip flops, pizza or chips, park or cinema? Life is full of choices. Okay, so the consequences of these choices might not be earth-shattering but other choices that we make each and every day could shape who we become.
Like who we decide to hang around with; like what we choose to watch on the TV; like how much effort we put in to our coursework.
As a boy of twelve, Jesus knew his purpose and priorities, and He lived by them: 'I must be about my father's business.' Do you know your priorities? A clear idea of what they are will shape your choices.
We all make hundreds of choices each and every day, but the big question is: are those choices taking you nearer to your goal, or further away? If you don't understand your life's goal, you won't be able to make the right choices.
The best way to make consistently good choices is to make prayer and God's Word your top priority. Ray Ortlund said: 'We must first be fully committed to Christ, then to one another in Christ, and finally to the work of Christ in the world.'
The very fact you're reading this indicates you've got an interest in what God's got for you, so why not take this opportunity to ask Him afresh what His priorities for you are - and ask Him for His help to make any necessary changes?
