This may be your attitude towards your clothes, but is it also your attitude towards sin? Just like a mother can spot the tiniest of blemishes on their child's outfit, God sees everything.
When you sin, own up to it. 'If we say openly that we have done wrong, He is upright and true to His word, giving us forgiveness of sins and making us clean from all evil.' (1 John 1:9, Bible in Basic English).
'Yeah, but I keep doing it, I keep thinking it. Isn't God gonna stop forgiving me?' When Jesus told Peter to forgive his brother seventy times seven, that's a picture of how God will deal with us. God won't even write us off after the four hundred and ninety first time either!
When you stuff up, own up to it and turn again to Jesus. If your heart races at the thought of the wrong you've done, literally thank God your conscience is still sensitive and responsive to God's Spirit.
Washing powder cleans your clothes but it's God's fire that cleans our insides. And when you've confessed your sin to Him, don't be down on yourself, but be confident that Jesus' sacrifice is enough for you to walk with God confidently once more.
What now? Our own pride can sometimes get in the way of us confessing our wrongs to God. Is there something you need to own up to? Let God clean you on the inside now.
