It Happens In Stages
'...First the blade, then the head, after that the full grain...' Mark 4:28
At different times, all of us find ourselves waiting for God to make a move in our lives. If that's you right now, listen to the words of Jesus in the parable of the seed:
'The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he's asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens.' Mark 4:26-28 (NLT).
Notice how things happen in stages. First there's the 'I don't know' stage. Your seed is in the ground but when it will produce a harvest is entirely up to God. All you have is His Word to you promising that it will (and God never breaks a promise).
Next comes 'the leaf blade' stage. It's just a tiny shoot blowing in the breeze but it's enough to encourage you and let you know that He is at work.
Next comes 'the head' stage. Now it's starting to look like God-given-God-driven transformation.
Finally the 'full grain' appears. The point is we don't always see what God's doing on the earth, or under the earth of our hearts. But He is busy working. The Kingdom is growing and will eventually appear.
