Is There A Better Way?
'Let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us' Philippians 3:15
In 1829, the Governor of New York petitioned the President of the United States about the latest danger to society. If this danger was allowed to spread, he argued, young men would lose their way in life. The social order would collapse, women and children would become victims and America would fall an easy target to war. What was this terrible threat set to destroy mankind? Drugs? Terrorism? Nuclear holocaust? Nope. Trains!
The Governor predicted Armageddon because of Thomas the Tank Engine's forebears. The world was changing and people were scared. You see, when life is revolutionised it's natural to feel trepidation. Do you feel like hitting the panic button when things around you are changing? Well we can't stay in school uniform forever - sooner or later we take the lessons learned in school and put them to use in the big, wide world.
Sure, you're worried because everything is different but don't let it weigh you down. 'Do not fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers ... before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness ... will settle you down' (Phil. 4-6 TM).
A blank canvas may be scary but it's also exciting. God had great fun dreaming up your future: it's custom built to fit you, so why not step into it? 'Form your purpose by asking for counsel, then carry it out using all the help you can get' (Prov. 20:18).
