HUNGRY FOR HIS WORD (3)
''The grass withers ... but the word of our God stands forever.' ' Isaiah 40:8
The third and main reason for reading your Bible is because it's all about Jesus! Everything in the Bible in some way points towards the Son of God - he is the most significant man who ever walked the earth.
Other faiths talk about Jesus as a good man, a prophet or a moral teacher but that just doesn't get close to the truth. The Bible shows Jesus to be God Himself! And there's loads of historical and archaeological proof that the Bible holds its own as a piece of true historical literature.
This is what a historian called Philip Schaff had to say, 'This Jesus of Nazareth, without money and arms, conquered more millions than ... Napoleon; without science and learning, he shed more light on things human and divine than all philosophers and scholars combined ... he spoke such words of life as were never spoken before or since ... without writing a single line, he set more pens in motion ... than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times.'
And Napoleon Bonaparte himself said, 'I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison... Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love.' The Bible. Don't miss out. Find your love for Jesus, and from that place, get stuck into reading about Him!
What now? Think of the Bible without Jesus. What kind of a book would it be? What difference does Jesus make to it?
