How to Sparkle

So you want to sparkle like a diamond? Well, before a stone becomes a diamond it's just carbon put under millions of pounds of pressure. The Bible says, 'These trials will show that your faith is genuine'. You become so engrossed with 'how you're feeling' or 'what's gone wrong' that you miss what God is up to through it all.
God hasn't gone AWOL; He's allowed this trouble to happen so that your faith can shine. Hard as this might be to hear right now, there is nothing like a spot of trouble to bring your 'faith life' into the open. Singing perfect harmonies to the latest Ben Cantelon song doesn't impress God half as much as putting your trust in Him when your life is badly out of tune.
James knew a thing or two about sparkling, 'Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith life is forced into the open and shows its true colours. So don't try and get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way' (James 1:2-4 TM).
There's far more to being a Christian than singing when you're winning. There's singing when it hurts. If you want to sparkle, you first have to endure the pressure.
