HOW TO MAKE A COMMITTED CHOICE (2)
'Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed' Proverbs 16:3
Abe was fighting a losing battle between watching the late night movie and drifting to the land of dreams, when all of a sudden a voice thundered through the stereo surround sound, 'Leave your country, your people and your father's household, and go to the land I will show you!'. 'What ,now?' asked Abe. He had to be kidding. It was 11:50 pm on a weeknight. He had to be at work by 8am. He had a series of long, important meetings ahead. He'd just upgraded his Sky movies package. No. Moving now would not be convenient. Couldn't God have mentioned a move before he'd put up the new conservatory? 'I will make you into a great nation' God boomed. 'Yeah, yeah. Some other time' Abe muttered to himself.
Okay, so it might not have played out exactly like that, but you get the picture. When Abram is asked to move to another country by a voice he barely recognizes in Genesis 12, he has a choice to make. He can stay put where he's made a comfortable life for himself. Or he can obey and find uncertain adventure. What about you? Do you need to make a decision? Scared of what you're leaving behind? 'Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.'
What now? Revisit your 'pros' and 'cons' list from yesterday. Ask God to highlight whether you're making a choice that will honour Him, and give you peace about your decision.
