His Story
'God is ... giving you ... power to do what pleases Him' Philippians 2:13
All our lives can be summed up in one word: history. Your life as a child is now history. Even the day you're living today will soon be yesterday - that's history. Now, pay attention: it's called History not 'Our-story' or 'My-story' but 'His-story'; because everyone who has ever lived has lived in His story - God's Story. Life began with God: 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth' (Gen. 1:1); and it will end with God, 'Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear' (Mark 13:31).
So all the bits in between must belong to God too. This means your life began with God and you are in His story. You're here because God wanted you here; your life is about God, His story.
When you were a baby you naturally thought the whole world revolved around you. You'd cry when you needed something and expect everyone to come running. That's OK for babies - they need a lot of attention and help in order to develop and grow. But now that you're older you need to sack off the it's-all-about-me attitude and start living His story.
In His story your life is packed with purpose: 'For God is working in you, giving you ... power to do what pleases Him' and lasts forever, 'I will live in the house of the Lord forever' (Ps. 23:6).
