'Led by the Spirit of God...' Romans 8:14

There's a warning in the Old Testament to listen to God rather than the voices of men. God's people are told to grab the Promised Land for themselves but everybody, except Joshua and Caleb, listens to the voice of fear. Reports become so exaggerated people are too scared to hear the voice of God.

If you really believe God has tasked you an assignment, get on with it. There'll always be the Pessimism Pack telling you it can't be done. There'll always seem to be others off on exciting adventures that will make you feel like small fish. And there's bound to be butterflies criss-crossing your stomach.

Listen for God's guidence then throw yourself off the high board. 'God, I'm your servant. Help me understand what that means, the inner meaning of your instructions ... break open your words. Let the light shine out. Let ordinary people see the meaning' (Ps. 119:125, 130 TM). It's key to focus on your potential, not your limitations. We all have limitations, so it's good to learn to accept them. In fact, it's our limitations that stop us running away with ourselves thinking it's our job to save the world.

It's not our job, it's God's job. Our limits will take us to our knees and draw on His strength. 'Human wisdom is so tinny, so impotent, next to the seeming absurdity of God. Human strength can't begin to compete with God's "weakness"' (1 Cor. 1:25 TM).
