Get into good habits (2)
'Everyone followed their old customs' 2 Kings 17:34
Have you ever noticed that you end up acting a bit like your mates when you've spent loads of time with them? Well, why not get into the habit of spending loads of time with God - every day, even - and maybe then you'll end up acting more like Him. Pretty good habit, hey?
Do you find it hard to read your Bible when there are all your fave soaps on at night? Make it a habit that you don't put the TV on when you get in from school or work until you've sat down for 10 minutes in your room and hung out with God for a bit.
Have you got a habit of gossiping with your mates, and slagging people off behind their backs? Instead, get into the habit of praying for the people you struggle with every day. (You don't have to be kneeling with your eyes closed to pray - you can do it silently in your head whenever you see them.)
Do you always press 'snooze' on your alarm on a Sunday morning, and end up missing church, thinking 'it's OK, there's youth group on Thursday'? Get in the habit now of setting your alarm earlier and getting your body out of bed and into church instead - where better to hear from God than in His house?
And when you're too old for youth group, it's better to already be in the habit of meeting up with other Christians regularly, than having to start afresh. Make your habits good ones today.
