Far From Worthless
'...Well-nurtured plants ... pillars ... to adorn a palace' Psalm 144:12
The Psalmist writes: 'O Lord, what is man that you care for him? ... Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow' (Psalm 144:3-4). As in, what's so great about us? We're here one minute, gone the next, why should God care?
God created us to have a relationship with Him, and He's planned amazing stuff for us all to do: we all have a purpose, a God-stamp of significance. But people in our lives can make us doubt our worth: 'You're a waste of space!'; 'You'll never amount to anything.'; 'You'll never be good enough!' If you hear these kinds of things enough, you can start to believe them.
Sometimes we don't even need to hear them to start to believe them - it's just how we feel about ourselves. Either way, what God says about us is very different: 'For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do' (Ephesians. 2:10).
We are God's workmanship. We are beautiful in His sight because it is He who made us and knitted us together in our mother's belly. Far from worthless, we are His children and He has plans that will give us a hope and a future. Read His Word. When you listen to God's words about you, you'll start to believe you are priceless, not worthless!
