Extreme
'God will generously provide all you need' 2 Corinthians 9:8
Extreme Survival: a television series now shown in 13 countries around the world is hosted by Ray Mears, who demonstrates his wilderness skills from some of the world's most menacing environments.
Want to know how to survive the world's worst? Ray is your man! In total contrast, the MTV reality series My Super Sweet 16 documents huge coming-of-age celebrations thrown by teenagers and their (usually extremely wealthy) parents. The show has been criticised for its excesses and the effects of presenting such over-the-top parties as an inspirational norm.
Neither show gives us a picture of a good way to live: one extreme leaves us coping and struggling, grabbing what we can in order to survive; the other smothers us in self-indulgence with no real sense of value or purpose. God's way doesn't leave us wanting, wondering if we'll make it; nor does it leave us spending without any care or concern.
Let's live out God's extreme way of life, knowing that 'God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.'
Living God's extreme means:
1) Trusting God to provide all you need - don't walk around struggling, feeling hopeless. When you need it, He promises you'll have it. Live like it!
2) Giving generously - this is no time for stinginess. Give with purpose what God has given you to those in need. Give and you'll be given more so you can give more. Now that's extreme!
