'You will lift up your face without shame' Job 11:15
'You are the weakest link, goodbye!' blurts out Ann Robinson as yet another contestant falls privy to the walk of shame. It's just another quiz show, but sometimes it can mirror our lives - nothing seems to go right and the whole world seems to shout at us, 'you are the weakest link, goodbye!' With head bowed, we scurry along life's walk of shame.
No one understood this more than Job. He was one of those people whose bread always landed butter side up. He had it all, everything you could want in life, he had it - great job, wonderful kids, stunning wife, good friends, he was wanting for nothing. Then he lost the lot! Apart from his wife that is.
But going through such extreme hardship and loss doesn't make that relationship easy. He couldn't make sense of it; he wished he'd never been born. But one thing that Job never did was blame God.
Sure, he questioned Him; tried to find some understanding of why his life had become so terrible and some peace amongst the torment of each day. But he never blamed Him and always clung to God, believing and trusting Him. Even when his friends deserted him and his health went down the pan, he kept hanging on to God and eventually Job came out on top.
The book with his name on reads, 'If you devote your heart to [God]...you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear.' Don't stop believing - God will come through for you too.
