'Did Ye Get Healed?'
'Jesus said ... "'Pick up your mat and walk."' John 5:8
John 5:1-16 tells the story of a man who couldn't walk. Along comes Jesus and the man is able to leave the story on his own two feet. Yes, the healing is possible because of Jesus, but does the other man play his part too? Verse 6 says, 'When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, He asked, "Do you want to get well?"' What a no-brainer, Jesus!
Of course he wants to get well. Who wouldn't want the use of their limbs? But Jesus doesn't say 'Do you want the use of your limbs?' He asks, 'do you want to get well?' Which hints at others things...are you willing to do some hard work? Are you willing to trust me no matter what? Are you willing to leave what you know and step into the unknown?
You see, 38 years of experience had told this man his legs couldn't support him. And now, in front of everybody, he has to face the humiliation of falling on his face, by placing his weight onto each limb and seeing what will happen.
In short, the man has to put his faith into action. It takes courage to put your confidence in God's healing. Are you willing to face the fear, uncover your weakness, and trust no matter what? It could be the secret to your healing.
