'For He is always thinking about you' 1 Peter 5:7
Think about those adverts they show on TV to get you to part with two quid a month...the haunting minor chords on a piano ring out as 'Chappie', the stray little highland terrier cowers at the camera, big sad eyes trembling through the pouring rain. The solemn voice-over tugs at our heart-strings telling us 'Chappie' was mistreated by his owner, only to be found by the puppy rescue team chained to a fence by a disused railway line.
You can't help but compare that brow-beaten canine to your fluff-ball on four paws - the one who massages your face with his slathering tongue every time you walk through the door. They're both dogs; the only difference is that your dog is confident with people because he's been loved and looked after, whereas 'Chappie' has no reason to trust a human.
That's how it is with the way you approach God the Father - you are a dog (kind of). If you've been shown massive amounts of unconditional love in your family life, you'll find it easier to approach God. If you've experienced pain, neglect or abuse in the family home, you may be prone to cowering at the idea of God the Father. If your heart shrinks away from God, know today that His love is a perfect love.
The Bible says this, 'Love ... doesn't force itself on others, isn't always 'me first'... doesn't fly off the handle ... always looks for the best' (1 Cor. 13:3-7 TM).
