We live in a bit of a 'microwave culture' nowadays, don't we? It's all about how quickly we can have something. We want to hear that blessed 'ping' after only a couple of minutes' wait and (let's face it) very little effort from ourselves.
The reality is though, microwave food doesn't taste that great, especially when compared to one of your old mum's dishes. All the time and careful preparation taken over a carefully prepared home-cooked dinner becomes obvious in its taste. The time and effort counts.
It's exactly the same for a lot of things that we want in life: we have to be prepared to put the time and work in. 'For we are labourers together with God...' (1 Corinthians 3:9 KJV). Having the gift of faith in God and what He can do in our lives is an amazing, life-transforming thing.
But God wants us to play our part too. You can't ask for God to help you pass all your exams without putting any work into the revision - that's not using your God-given abilities. And if we're to put time and effort in with God like Jesus, we've got to make sure that love is at the centre. Because the Bible says that if we're not love-focused in what we do, it don't mean diddly!
What now?
Put some time and effort into study time with God!. Look up how to be a really good 'labourer' with Him and for Him by looking at 1 Corinthians 3:1-23 and 2 Corinthians 6:1-18.
