Chip On Your Shoulder?
'I will give [you] favour' Exodus 3:21
There are so many people who don't expect anything good in life. They don't expect to get breaks, they don't expect good grades, or to get a job they really want, they don't expect anything positive. Are you one of them? Do you think you'll always be 'the bridesmaid, never the bride' or always 'the friend, never the boyfriend'? Do you go around thinking all your teachers have 'got it in for you' and your family is the worst ever?
Could this be your attitude towards God too? Do you think that God's got it in for you? Do you say things like, 'God would never want to do anything good for me and I've got a whole lifetime of events to prove it'?
If you've got a big chip on your shoulder, now's the time to knock it off.
Listen! What God said to the Israelites thousands of years ago He says to you today: 'I will give [you] favour.' The Israelites were hostages, slaves trapped inside the enemy's camp and so they prayed for freedom. They asked God for favour and He gave it them. He did it in the most unexpected ways - using frogs, boils, locusts to name just a few (read Exodus to find out more).
Proverbs 16:3 says 'Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.' He will, 'give you favour' in the most unexpected ways.
