Chill Your Beans!

'God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind' 2 Timothy 1:7

Let's face it. Fear gets in the way sometimes. Sometimes fear can make your heart go like the clappers until you're convinced people around you can actually hear it and might start bustin' moves around you. Fear can completely take over and control you if you give in to it.

But it is written that 'God has not given us a spirit of fear'! It's not from Him, it's not His desire, so we don't have to put up with it! God wants us to fear as much as He wants us not to not worry - in other words, not one little bit. You might say, yeah but everyone worries don't they? Everyone gets a case of the old wobble legs now and again! It's part of being human.

But here's the deal: when you opened your heart to follow God, His Spirit (the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead) lives in you, and you are a new creation. God says we can conquer fear, worry and all other pesky anxieties, by choosing to give over all our worries and concerns to Him, and in return claim what He has given us. That's the spirit of power, love and a sound mind!
