ANGER MANAGEMENT
'Stop being bitter and angry and mad at others ...' Ephesians 4:31
Laid-back or stress-head, we all have times when we 'blow our top.' But have you got a handle on your anger, or is your anger controlling you? If you hit the roof or explode in people's faces on a regular basis then you could be in need of these six steps to overcoming anger:
1. Face it. If you're known as Mr Angry, you need to accept it's a problem. Acknowledgement is the first step to overcoming anger. Read Galatians 5:13-26 to understand it more and begin a new approach to life.
2. Deal with it. God doesn't want us to be explosive characters, so we can't keep an angry outlook. Read James 1:19-20 and spend more time listening. Decide today anger is not for you.
3. Kill it. A snake bite doesn't just affect the body part that gets bitten; the venom spreads through the entire system. And things stay alive if we just bury them. Read Galatians 2:20 and rely on God's power to take away your anger for good.
4. Break it. Anger destroys relationships. Read 2 Corinthians 10:3-7 and break its power by fighting it God's way.
5. Replace it. Once removed it leaves a hole. Read Ephesians 4:31-32 and replace it with God's best.
6. Live without it. Anger can reappear. Read Ephesians 4:26 and learn the antidote to ensure anger doesn't control you again.
What now? If you find it difficult to manage your anger, pray through these six steps with a friend and become accountable to them for it.
