All Change (3)
'I have learned to be content' Philippians 4:11
Does your mood change with your circumstances? Can you be all right one minute, then want to punch someone's lights out the next? Can you be exuding confidence only minutes before collapsing in an emotional heap? Would you go into meltdown if you had to leave the house with no make-up on? Would you throw a hissy fit if you had to move to a less desirable neighbourhood?
Don't worry, you're not alone. Every one of us has insecurities and finds it difficult to cope when things change. But God didn't create us to bumble our way through life, cracking up whenever things don't quite go as planned. He wants us to be content.
Paul said, 'I'm glad in God ... I don't have a sense of needing anything personally. I've learned ... to be ... content whatever my circumstances. I'm just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I've found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.' (Phil. 4:10 -14 TM)
Paul didn't have a contented personality type - he learned to be content, which means we can learn it too. No matter how much or how many times your life, relationships or circumstances change, sign yourself up to God's school and learn to be content like Paul - it's the key to a happier life!
