A Better Tomorrow
'... Give a crown of beauty for ashes' Isaiah 61:3
We've all experienced that all-too-familiar reddening of the skin that swells to a sore little bump that grows into a mountain of pus! Spots! Sometimes it feels like they choose the worst moments to rear their ugly heads, but what can you do? Stick a paper bag over your head and hide away from the rest of the world?
When problems come along God doesn't want you to bury your head in the sand like an ostrich. He wants you to turn to Him, face the facts and express your pain. Be honest - talk to God about what's really going on, just like David in the Bible did: 'How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart?' (Ps. 13:2 NIV).
The first step to healing, to solving difficulties and a problem is letting God in. Sometimes it's easy to think that our problems are not important to God, that He's not interested, or our stuff doesn't matter to Him.
But read Isaiah 61:1-3 and you discover the truth of how much God cares for you: God sent Jesus 'to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken, announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners ... to comfort all who mourn ... give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, messages of joy instead of news of doom' (TM). Let God turn your ashes into beauty.
