Taking personal responsibility (2)
'Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others' 1 PETER 4:10
When someone tells you to be more 'responsible', it's usually the last thing you'd ever want to do. After all, isn't that for people who are old and boring, and people who never have any fun? In fact the opposite is true; as you grow up the more responsible you are the more freedom you're going to have to have fun, because things are far less likely to go 'Pete Tong'! It's not about being old or boring or mature, it's about realising you're responsible for your own life and making good choices instead of doing something stupid and regretting it for the rest of your life. Here are three ways in which we can be more responsible.
1) Following through. If you're a quitter; someone who never finishes what they start, try giving yourself smaller things to finish. Do stuff that really matters to you, and when you start to finish those, think about tackling some other areas.
2) Taking care of the small stuff. How often do you forget small things; that are big things to others? Like forgetting anniversaries and birthdays, not taking the bins out or not calling someone back. Start sorting out the small things first, they matter to other people! 3) Do it yourself. Too many people expect others to do things for them, especially if you're used to your parents doing things. So start doing things by yourself!
