I noticed this post which was a response to a post by Sue D.
Also I noticed a post of mine had not had a response.

So a question:

Is writing on a forum teaching?

Christian women have written books....is that wrong.

What about female moderators???
I dont see myself in anyway as a teacher or a preacher within the mod role.

Lets have a friendly discussion backed byBiblical verses

Hi Grace,

I'm not sure I agree with the presumption of the post. I've posted before that rules and regulations have a tendency to stifle worship. I'm pretty sure that Jesus is with me on this one, which is a large part of why He didn't get on too well with the Pharisees. I'm not being an anarchist saying no rules, but only apply rules where you've got a problem.

IMO a good guide to rules in the epistles is that none are commandments, most are advice as to how to live your life according to God's will, assuming that you want to please Him.

Any rules that are not in the Old Testament and are suddenly introduced in the Epistles should be red flagged. Look into them to see context and if there are contradictions elsewhere and maybe local culture and customs. If there's lingering doubt it's likely that accepting that rule on face value is not what the writer intended.

I picked this from a Google search Women in Church Leadership - a Series of Study Papers: Women "Should Remain Silent" - A Study of 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 on this topic. This page raises some interesting points.

Any other viewpoints welcome.

Hi @Andyindauk

Did you mean the presumption of the quoted post.....or of my post?

If mine I will adjust as it wasnt my intention
Hi Grace, it's both actually. I've probably got it all wrong as usual lol.

The verse in 1 Timothy was trimmed and quoted, and I got the impression that you were saying you've cut out any teaching role within your church and was asking if that should be extended to fem mods in TalkJesus? If that's the case IMO your poor church is missing out on your valuable contribution.

Like I say I've probably got the wrong end of the stick - again lol

Hi @Andyindauk

Ahh I see.

The quote was directly how member David1954 had put it on his post....so the snipping had already been done.

I think I may delete the thread and more prayerfully rewrite it if lead to do so.

Hi Fragrant Grace,
Could you give a quick outline of what your speciality belief is for the Christian scriptures.

I mean, few (if any) people are specialists in all aspects of scriptures. I’m asking for an outline of what you believe most strongly and can defend most vigorously:
  • Jesus is God!
  • Jesus is not God!
  • Adam was a man, and, ‘Son of God’ (Luke 3:38)
  • Jesus is a man, and, ‘Son of God’
  • ‘Son of God’ (biblically) MEANS, ‘He who does the works of the Father’: a TRUE SON! - and why this definition?
  • Jesus prayed for the Holy Spirit BEFORE he was able to perform miracles: ‘The works you see me do (- and - the words you hear me speak) are NOT mine but of him who sent me!’
  • Jesus DIED... GOD cannot die!! (Many Trinitarians claim Jesus did not die... why then do they celebrate Easter??)
  • Jesus is raised UP above that of his brethren (Disciples/Apostles) and seated in glory in the right hand seat of honour NEXT TO GOD!
  • Jesus is HANDED the power of ALMIGHTY GOD to set the world to rights... after this, he HANDS BACK this power to HIM WHO GAVE IT TO HIM.., Jesus cannot be Almighty God if he receives and hands back ALMIGHTY POWER and Authority...
  • Joseph received the Pharoahs ring to seal anything he desired IN THE PHAROAH’S name... Joseph was not PHAROAH... he handed back the ring to Pharoah after the famine was over! Also read, ‘Book of Esther’ where a similar theme is played out: Mordeciah is given the signet ring of king Ahazeruas to produce an edict to save the Jews!!! See the parallels?

Maybe more the questian would be -- what is the role Of a Forum. I've been on several over the years.

It Should be to have honest polite discussion on a variety of subjects that people want to talk about. And there Needs to be rules/ guidelines to follow.

Discussion helps to clarify in a person's own mind what they Do believe / what's important to that particular individual.

David1954 and I had been having a discussion on a particular subject that we happen to disagree on. He apparently didn't like the fact that I was holding to my position and with Scripture to back up my position. So he responded back to me about women are to be quiet in a group setting.

I've noticed in the various Forums that I've been a part of that they are mainly a man's discussion arena. Women come and go fairly quickly. Seems that I'm one of the few that do stick around.

There Is something to be said for Godly order in leadership. And in the area of the Church -- Scripturally -- men are to be the leaders. In mixed adult groups, men are to be the leaders / husband-wife teams are a good idea. But they are Not to take turns in a teaching role. Though that does work sometimes.

There are lots of women who are blessed with teaching and leadership ability -- thus, women's Bible study groups.

I've Also noticed that I'm thinking that Fragrant Grace is the only woman moderator. She's now getting a bit of flack -- but it's not her knowledge / stand on Scripture that should be questioned.

As I've understood the role of a moderator -- it's to enforce the rules of the Forum -- give warnings where needed as they are needed. And a moderator Should be Listened to. Not challenged.

Men definitely do Not like to be challenged by a woman.

I will just place this here and see where we go from here.

I suppose one can then see how to apply the OP and whatnot to this information about Forums.

A forum is not a church so those articles you're sharing would not apply.

And in any organization there have to be rules / guidelines to function properly.

Sometimes men don't know the meaning of 'submit' -- some think that it only applies to women in marriage.

It also applies to men to submit to the rules of an organization. In this case -- a Forum.

Words are so tricky and have so many avenues, especially the english language and biblical applications. TalkJesus is open a forum “AIU” with respectable guidelines and rules. “Transliterated” words can sometimes be a problem of interpretation across the whole board. The word “church” can cause a great deal of confusion.. it did not derive from “ekkesia” which means “assembly” or “congregation”. I think that term with a “parameter” of women teachers maybe directed to the “institutional church” system. Because it is so hard for us to gasp the demographics of the meetings of that arena. There were many “pagan Greek temples” throughout the “Roman providence”! The Epistles have so address the hordes of the worshipping and practicing of the “Greek Goddesses “worship. But concerning such forums such as this, all is fair. What “assembly” can express their expression of the biblical text and discuss and debate their concerns with a group of level headed “Moderators” which is the real role of a trump up word called “Pastor”. IMO” But always remember “you have to contend for the faith” “faithful are the wounds of a friend” deceitful are the kisses of a enemy”. You might not get to many kisses up in here!

And “Moderators”. Humbly and kindly I will say this, warn me before I get to close to the line. Not when I get to the line, so that I may take necessary detours !

Sometimes, hard things causes us to learn and reach even further that in other places we cannot express, I notice even you have shown such wisdom into something that I was going to address and I stayed my hand, in others it looked like pride, but in me it was so humbling that I wanted to hide. But it blossomed into something else.

Since there is a discussion in place I wont delete the thread.

@Sue D. is right it does seem like women come and dont stay long at Talk Jesus. We do have our lovely moderator LadylovesJesus who quietly and beautifully moderates without drawing.much attention to herself.

@JustAskin I will come back to your questions in a while.

My carnal self sometimes wants to press the big red ban button* and say things I shouldnt to difficult members
I think the constraining verses which are a guiding light to me are ....

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you
Ephesians 4:32

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Ephesians 4:2-9

Thank You Jesus

(Hebrews 5).

7In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety. 8Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.
And we do too!❤

Your comments in this post is one reason I'd decided to not take part in the Revelation discussion. Your very first sentence especially. And then your comment concerning pastors "a trumped up word called 'pastor'. Your IMO attitude towards moderators and 'level-headed' Moderators and pastors. The word used in Timothy and Titus which is where the guidelines are given For bishops/ elders / deacons might not be specifically 'pastors', but we all know that That word is correct. There are many Godly church activities that are not done in the New Testament local church. Are 'we' to dress just like the people of the New Testament? Are we to walk everywhere or use donkeys / horses? Are we to refrain from using electricity?

Everything in Scripture has to be taken within their context. All the verses surrounding the word / phrase and even a given chapter.

Yes chapter
Book
Testaments
Whole Bible

Otherwise we are cherry picking which is what we definately do not want to do.

Hi Grace,

I apologise if this is a bit of a tangent but could I please urge all the M and F mods to think very carefully before deleting threads? I know that sometimes it's a difficult call but if you're unsure perhaps ask for the views of those affected before pulling the thread. I say this because recently I was in discussion with someone who was threatening to do something very stupid, it got quite antagonistic but whilst trying to persuade the protagonist to see sense and calm down, the thread was pulled. I'm told afterwards that the protagonist followed through with the threats.

Please don't take this as a criticism, the work of you and your colleagues is really really appreciated. God bless you all.

All of my comments concerning moderators I thought was holding them in the highest degree in light scripture, and the word “Pastor” or “Bishop” and the term “church” has taken on a new completely different meaning since I think “1611” “AV” or “KJV” a good “KJV” reference study bible should show that information in either in “italics” or “brackets” or “footnotes”. or a list of word changes in back of the “translation”. In essence I thought by all means I was giving praises to all of those at “TalkJesus” and justifying it with the backing of “Holy Scripture” If not , that was my intention. ❤

I haven't used a KJV in years. It Is a popular version, but does have it's problems.

Everyone knows that those qualifications are for local church - behind the pulpit people.

I'm thinking that you're one of the posters who isn't really keen on local churches. I'm sort of wondering how you're going handle the 1st few chapters about the 7 churches of Asia Minor. And the rest of the book for that matter.

That there's really, True meat in Scripture for those who really want to find it. Which is one reason I'm not participating in the Revelation study.

Well, since maybe I have most likely read the book of Revelation over 500 times in many translations of the various original copied text in the 40 plus years, it always I find shows new light, in that alone makes it so exciting , that GOD in His infinite Wisdom and uniqueness, how He stills blows the breath of life on His “Written Word” and it is “Living”. It will never “die”. “Like a river that will never grow cold and it does flow, like a river that will never run dry. I guess the reason why, because “He is GOD”. And His Son is the bread of life”

(Matthew 24)NKJV)
4But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?”

They answered Him, “No.”

6And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.❤
