To many times lately i have stepped into a church and found that they never bring up the name of Jesus. Sure they will sing a song with his name in it or they will state at the end of a prayer in Jesus name. Have we really forgotten or come so far off track that we have forgotten the power in the name of our Lord?

This passed wednesday night i went to a service with a friend of mine and not one time did they say the name of Jesus throughout the whole service. i will edit this on monday i am out of time.

Hi, what sort of church was this. My Baptist church mentions Jesus most often.

My church mentions all 3 person all the time, mainly focused on Jesus after all. Not all church congregations are the same.

this mostly happens in the non denominational churches. that is the one that we went to on wednesday night. there is a huge point to this. if we become afraid of worshipping jesus in his glory and mentioning him with his glory then we are infact deniing him. especailly when our excuse is that we dont want to offend anybody.

Even a non denominational congregation can "not" be a congregation without faith and confession in Jesus.

Romans 10:9
9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved

It is not about offending anyone. Satan plants that evil lie in the minds of people that calling yourself a Christian is a bad thing. Some people don't want to be called Christians, because they have their own set of beliefs. That is totally in contradiction of God's Word.

If we follow Jesus, we are Christians.

The definition of the word Christian:

The term Christian means "belonging to Christ" and is derived from the Greek noun Χριστός Khristós which means "anointed one," which is itself a translation of the Hebrew word Moshiach (Hebrew: משיח, also written "Messiah"), (Arabic it is pronounced Maseeh مسيح). ...

May I be a Christian dear Lord! I am a Christian, I belong to Jesus! Amen!

Some more verses from God's Holy Word:

1 Peter 4:16
However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

Acts 11:25-26
25Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

Romans 1:6
And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

i agree with what you are saying teraside, but i have to tell you that it is happening. remember the word states that there will be many that will come and claim his name and they will not know him. it is happening now. the authority of christ is slowly but surely being taken out of the churches. it is getting bad. it is getting to the point that if you confront certain sin that you will be arrested. the gospel is not being taught for these fears. there is already a law against praying in the name of jesus christ in public.

the bibe states to do all things in his name. that all things we do great and small are to be done in the name of jesus.

Maybe this has happened to the non-denominational churches you have happened to visit, and it is sad that this has been your experience but we have to be careful about making sweeping statements. They are not all like this.
I have attended more than one non-denominational church, in fact I prefer them and Jesus Christ has always been the focus and His name is said throughout the service, and Father God, and Holy Spirit.
Also how often is the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice, talked about? Weekly, every service, just at communion? This is also something to think about. The church I attend regularly reminds the congregation of the sacrifice and the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We sing 'nothing but the blood of Jesus'.

"Why the Name of Jesus"? Now that is a good question 'ushalk'

I would draw your attention to the scripture.......Mark ch 16 v 15 - 18

"And he (Jesus) said unto them Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe........In my Name shall they cast out devils, in my Name shall they speak with new tongues, ......etc. etc......

In my Name............
There is no other in such matters of salvation, healing, deliverance etc. Thats the reason for "why the Name of Jesus" It is the only one able to give Salvation, Healing, Baptism in the Holy Ghost, and an eternal future.........

Greetings in Jesus name,

I am reminded of Acts 4:12...

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

think about it.

Bless you,

Br. Bear.

how about john 3:18- for he who believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe in him is condemned already because they have not believed in the name of the only begotten son of god.

what about the fact that he made his whole life for us.

And don't forget

Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

The word "deed" here refers to an action something is that is done.

It is from the Greek ergō (a primary but obsolete word; to work); toil (as an effort or occupation); by implication an act: - deed, doing, labour, work.

Baptism is a deed I might add. Something to think about.

Oh and the definetion of Christian also means Christ-like, Or like Christ

Yes, we must all keep on thanking our Lord Jesus.

Luk 12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

Luk 12:9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The devil don't like me much, as I am trying to bring Jesus' church outside the man-made one, and it's been quite a battle, I can tell you, but I won't give up.

No-one must be ashamed of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven.

Joh 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2Co 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

well we all agree on here. yet the question still remains the same. if we all know this then why is it not spoke in the churches and why are they not ministering jesus christ tothe unsaved?

you see i hear all this claim about accepting him but i never hear the name of jesus or what he said or has done or what the word ststes about him. i think a huge problem without him there is no head of the church.

According to ‘NAMES OF GOD' book

-
The base-meaning of the Greek name JESUS is "The LORD saves" &
the deeper meaning of it is "He will save his people from their sins".

Without these, what hope is there?

Jesus is the foundation (Cornerstone) of CHRISTianity.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear this about the church or churches you have visited, I've attended many non denominational churches ( got saved in one ), been at concerts, seminars, revivals and youth rallies. And you always hear " The blood of Jesus " " In Jesus name " , during prayer, worship and they talk about Jesus in sermons and being Christ like.
I'm really baffled by this.
How can a pastor have a sermon and not use Jesus as an example to prove his point.

If this is something new, I'm definitely going to be praying about it, it's just silly.

Please keep in mind the term non-denominational refers to those churches which have not formally aligned themselves with an established denomination.
They hold no tides with any church label, most of them are independent and share different beliefs,
so all can not be put into the same box.

For example
I've been checking out churches in my area and under non denominational I found The church of latter days saints.

well that is great rizen 1. i hope to hear that there are more churches that are not coming to this new world of laws and rules that are trying to keep jesus out of the picture. people need to know the truth and it is our job to see that people hear the truth. they all need to know that there is only one way to heaven and that way be through our lord jesus christ.

You're right people do need to hear the truth.
False teachings can be found everywhere because, everyone wants to be a pastor when they were never called.

you can look at the world and see that people want christ and will do what it takes to get christ. however the first things they hear are how christ gives us money or this or that. many manipulations are out there by people that want that mighty dollar bill. if they were truly for christ my question is why do they only see and hear how they are doing this or they are doing that or through our ministry you will receive this or that.

i tell you no lie that lord his coming and truly woe to those that are misleading his sheep or anyone in this world for that matter. there is a reason that jesus gave all things up including money a home and all other things of this world and that reason is us. yet he still uses no force nor does he tell us you owe me because i did all of this for you.

here is another good one. if you send us your money we will send you this or that. it is all false. we can have all the little knick knacks and all the false pictures of jesus and all that we want it does not make us saved.
