I have suffered slander, being taking for granted many times and abused emotionally by my own parents. For a period of time I didn’t understand why I had to suffer so much, until God opened my eyes to see that everything I suffered is what Jesus and God had to endure with humanity.
Do you feel taken for granted? Well, God has been taken for granted pretty much the entire time of human existence.
Have you faced life threatening situations? Well, Jesus faced death threats when he was still a baby.
Did you face slander? Jesus did too.
Did you face any sort of betrayal? Jesus did too.
Did you have to witness anyone you love dearly die innocently? Jesus died innocently too.
So if you have been suffering all these or some of these as a Christian, you are sharing what Jesus experienced. That should bring sympathy to your heart and more adoration of God and His Son. If that doesn’t and you feel more resentment even after knowing that, something is not right about your heart and faith.
