Why Read the Bible?
Being a man I really don't like reading instructions when I buy a new toy. Some assembly is required most of the time, because that was the only way the manufacturer could cram something so big to fit into a smaller box. I can not tell you how many times I have put something together without reading the instruction to having to take the whole thing back apart, just to put that one small part I left out in!!!
The Bible is a instruction book for living breathing people. Without it we would not know what we had from the original manufacturer, and what to do when a part seems to malfunction, and in how to fix it!!!
2Ti 3:16 EVERY SCRIPTURE IS GOD-BREATHED (given by His inspiration) and profitable FOR INSTRUCTION, FOR REPROOF AND CONVICTION OF SIN, FOR CORRECTION OF ERROR AND DISCIPLINE IN OBEDIENCE, [AND] FOR TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action), (AMP)
The Bible tells us things we never knew we had or could find out on our own.
If a person put $1,000,000 in a bank account just for you, with your name on it, and a means to get to it, that money would do you no good to have unless you knew you had it!!! The Bible does just that!! It tells us of things that God has already given to us, and in how to receive it. Even salvation was given unto us by what the Bible says in scripture.
2Ti 1:8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,
2Ti 1:9 WHO SAVED US AND CALLED US to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, WHICH HE GAVE US IN CHRIST JESUS BEFORE THE AGES BEGAN,
When did God saved us his Church? He saved us ,and he called us in Christ before time began!!!
That salvation did not do us any good until we heard from the scriptures what God had given us in Christ before the world began!!! Once we heard the Gospel of our salvation, which brings faith, because it is the Word we are hearing that gives us faith to believe what we heard. We then experienced what was already given unto us from the beginning, that we did not know which is the “new birth”!!!!!
There is no way anyone can receive anything from God unless they know what was already given to them from the beginning!!! Only the bible can give us this information, and the faith required to receive it!!! This is vitally important to all the Church that we read our instruction manual that tells us these things.
What has the lord given to us from the beginning?
2Pe 1:3 According as HIS DIVINE POWER HATH GIVEN UNTO US ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN UNTO LIFE AND GODLINESS, THROUGH THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM that hath called us to glory and virtue:
The knowledge of him comes from his Word!!!
