Why must we keep the commandments?

Is it because we fear God or is it because we love God (John 14:15)? If we do it out of fear, it means that we are trying to save our self from punishment? In other words, it is out of self interest. On the other hand if it is out of love, then it is pure, holy and selfless. Which of the two reasons will bring us peace?

The bottom line is....knowing Jesus. When we know Him....when we have tasted, known the joy, felt the blessing etc. I am convinced that all who have known this joy..........are fully aware of the counterfeit

Paul had been serving Jesus for many years.....when he prayed "O that I might know Him..........."

There are heights of joy that I may not reach........
There are depths of praise that I may not know......

Knowing Jesus is all that matters........the boundaries are limitless

Do we not strive daily with the undertaking of the Holy Spirit to live up to the 10 Commandements?

We don't purposely set out to break them, perhaps we commit a sin, along lifes way, we truly repent, surely we walk each and every day with the knowledge that we are His people, blood bought, blood washed.

Now those without Jesus, do not know to repent of sin, they walk on blindly sinning, as we to did before we had a personal encounter with the Lord.

My point is:
While talking to a fellow Christian lady in church, and after having given her a tract to pass onto an unsaved person, she started to answer the questions herself, as it was set out on the first page as Questions with reference to the 10 Commandements making the reader aware that they had sinned God's Holy Law, by telling lies, stealing, blaspheming, etc.

She was answering yes to them all, I explained it was directed at non-believers, but said okay Josie, we all did these things before we got saved, surely we still don't purposely walk about with the same intentions after Salvation?
She was quite adamant we did, I don't know how you all feel regards this, but I know, in my own heart, that the Holy Spirit convicts me of wrong doings even before I would dare think of doing them, I've only to hear someone say something that is lawless and my heart is pricked, I know I couldn't willingly do it.

but I do believe if we did sin, not on intentionaly, we truly repent, as we are washed in Jesus precious blood, and that is how we are presented to God, though the blood.

99.9% of all sins that are committed are intentional acts that are committed BY choice by the individual who commits the sin.

The extremely RARE acts of unintentional acts of sin are themselves extremely RARE and very few are even further between.

The problem that very grossly infects the body of Christ to a point of it rapidly becoming a near fatal affliction is doctrine which influences people to think they can continue living in sin with what is actually a false assurance that thier future sins are alreqedy forgiven and the even worse false assurance that they have eternal security and can never lose their salvation no matter what they do that is an abomination in the sight of God, or how often they do these things.

THESE teachings are why there are homosexuals who have been ordained to fill Pastoral positions in churches, THESE doctrines are why the word of God is so greatly compromsied by millions of professing Christians who are truly NOT what they profess themselves to be.

God will not be mocked the individuals who teach that sin is nothing for the believer to be concerend about will surely reap a regretful reward of the wrath of God in eternity if they do not repent from teaching these horrid demonic lies that have already doomed millions who thought they were eternally secure to hell forever....

So are you saying that Jesus' death on the cross was not an acceptable sacrifice for the sin of the world? That more is required? If so what more is required and how do you discern what is sin?

I can only speak for myself, when I say, that I am very aware of sin, mind, thought, act and deed, even as I've said others in my family just speaking of doing something sinful, I do remind them it is, and I don't wish to be hearing it.

I am very conscience of it, and wouldn't purposly set out to commit sin.
I did so without another thought BEFORE I was saved, but since I am very conscience of what I do, say and participate in, I know God has set His law for us to abide by.

And yes total agreement jiggyfly Jesus did it all on the cross of Calvary, Bless His Holy Name, some today think they must add to it, by good works or reciting creeds, or confession to men, or pilgrimages. Oh the list I'm sure is endless. Take Croak Patrick just for one example.

I do not believe that my future sins are automaticly forgiven before they are commited, because I strive not to commit them intentionly, with the help of the Lord, and I ask for forgiveness regularly for sins commited that I am aware and unaware of.

I do not think it is okay to go ahead and just sin, intentionly, because Jesus went to the cross, He paid the full price, but not for us to glibly sin because He did.

I always thought we cannot loose our Salvation, once we're saved, we can walk away from Jesus, God forbid it, but He won't walk away from us, we can go back into the world - Backslide, but His Salvation will always be on us, we just don't reckonize it anymore, not unless we humbly go back like the Prodical son, to the Father, who always has His arms wide open for our return, that's why we don't get saved again, can only be saved once.
Therefore we cannot give back to Jesus His Salvation.
