Ten key facts proving the divinity of Jesus:
1. Jesus says He is God
John 8:58 – “Before Abraham was, I am.”
- Jesus uses the divine name “I AM,” echoing Exodus 3:14, clearly claiming eternal existence and divinity.
John 10:30-33 – “I and the Father are one.”
- The Jews understood this as a claim to deity and attempted to stone Him for blasphemy.
2. Jesus Was Worshiped (Only God Is Worthy of Worship)
Matthew 14:33 – “Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’”
John 9:38 – “Then the man said, ‘Lord, I believe,’ and he worshiped Him.”
Revelation 5:11-14 – All of heaven worships “the Lamb” (Jesus) alongside God.
3. Jesus Forgave Sins (A Divine Prerogative)
Mark 2:5-7 – “Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
- Jesus heals a paralyzed man and forgives his sins, which shocks the religious leaders because only God can do that.
4. Jesus Performed Miracles by His Own Authority
John 11:43-44 – Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead.
Matthew 8:26-27 – Jesus calms the storm, and the disciples ask, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
5. Jesus Accepted and Claimed Titles of Deity
Son of God – John 5:18 – “He was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.”
Messiah and Son of Man – Daniel 7:13-14 connects the “Son of Man” with divine rule.
- Jesus refers to Himself this way often (e.g., Mark 14:61-62).
6. Jesus Rose from the Dead
Romans 1:4 – “[Jesus] was declared to be the Son of God in power... by his resurrection from the dead.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-8 – Paul affirms many eyewitnesses saw the resurrected Christ.
7. Jesus is the Creator and Sustainer of All Things
John 1:1-3, 14 – “In the beginning was the Word... and the Word was God... through Him all things were made... and the Word became flesh.”
Colossians 1:15-17 – “All things were created through Him and for Him... in Him all things hold together.”
8. Jesus Receives Prayer and Is the Object of Saving Faith
Acts 7:59-60 – Stephen prays to Jesus as he dies: “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
John 14:13-14 – Jesus says to ask Him anything in His name, and He will do it.
John 3:16-18 – Eternal life depends on belief in Jesus.
9. Jesus Will Judge the World
John 5:22-23 – “The Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son.”
Acts 17:31 – “[God] has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed... raising Him from the dead.”
10. Jesus is Called God by the Apostles
Titus 2:13 – “Our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Hebrews 1:8 – “But of the Son He says, ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.’”
- God the Father calls the Son “God.”
