I watched a bollywood movie called 3 idiots, and the moral of the story " not to chase success but to be excellent in what you do and success will chase after you."
Another message was to make your passion your profession.
Exodus 20:17. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Your focus should not be on what they have, they are not accountable to you but God. It's not a matter of why do the wicked prosper, but us accepting our positions and taking responsibility for our lives.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." (Matthew 5:43-45 NIV)
Some of us are meant to be commoners so we remain humble. We have to be careful when looking at other's success that envy does not show it's face.
“Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” (1 Peter 2:1-2).
As for hearing God, I suggest be still and spend more time in worship. Examine your heart, repent if repentance is needed and feast on the word of God.
Back to the Indian movie, I would like to share this one last thing. In times of distress he would put his hand to his heart and say
" Aal iz well," with the belief that tricking the heart into thinking everything is ok when it's not gives you courage.
The next time you feel down and out, put your hand to your chest and say " aal iz well"..." in God I put my trust "
Proverbs 3:5-6

We serve an awesome God, and I believe you can do anything you put your mind to when you seek his kingdom first.
