If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But [there is] forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. Psalm 130:3-4 NKJV

When you understand how much of a problem sin is, you’ll begin to understand how great your Redeemer is. One of the prophets recognized sin for what it is, and proclaimed, “Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” (Micah 6:7). No! Nothing we offer can expunge the record of our sins.

But God made an incredible promise to His people that would later be fulfilled in Christ: “I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Jeremiah 31:34). The sacrifice of Jesus would allow God to “forget” the sin of those who accept the free gift of salvation through faith. When you confessed Christ Jesus as Lord, all your wrongdoings, shortcomings, and sins were purposely “forgotten.” You were removed from the old system where records were kept to a new system where they are not: “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves” (Colossians 1:13). The Father not only wiped your slate clean, He broke that slate into pieces!

Prayer: I praise You. Father of my freedom, for remembering my sins no more!
