Some say allwe have to do is follow Jesus? But which Jesus?

The Jesus from the planet Kolob?
The Jesus that had sex with Mary Magdelene?
The Jesus that had a sinless mother?
The Jesus that didn't have any Earthly brothers or sisters?
The Jesus who is only a prophet?
The Jesus who is an angel and the brother of Satan?
The Jesus who isn't God?
The Jesus who was resurrected in Spirit only and not in the flesh.
The Jesus who isn't our High-Priest
The Jesus who isn't our only mediator between man and God.

None of those Jesus' are in the Bible yet millions follow them.
Matt 24:25 "Behold, I have told you in advance.
Matt 24:26 "So if they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the wilderness,' do not go out, or, 'Behold, He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe them.
Mark 13:21 "And then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ'; or, 'Behold, He is there'; do not believe him;
Mark 13:22 for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, the elect.

False Jesus' are everywhere. How do you know which one to follow?

Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
Mat 7:22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
Mat 7:23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

There will be many people who think they are following Jesus, but in reality are following someone else.

It is interesting that knowing Christ (example here "I never knew you;"), and following his commandments (exampple here "...you who practice lawlessness.") echo the other passage too.

"If you love me, keep my commands" - John 14:15

Love God and love one another, all the law is summed up in these two commands.

I will follow the Jesus who died that I might live.
I will follow the Jesus who lives that "I" might "die".
I will follow the Jesus that radically changed my life in a small country cottage 35 years ago .
I will follow the Jesus that has never left my side since, and has never failed to offer me the strength I have needed to get through each and every day.
I will follow the Jesus that loves me to bits and proves it every single day through His numerous gracious blessings and continuing faithfulness.
I will follow the Jesus that created all the heavens and earth, and all that is in them.
I will follow the Jesus that is now seated on the right hand of the Father in glory, and is preparing to return for His faithful people for whom He died.
I will follow this Jesus because He, and He alone is worthy of all praise, honour, and glory forever and ever.

well glory to His name, that`s my Jesus!

If we fail to be in the Bible and pray and be involved in a Bible believing church, then it might be easy to fool you!

So how do you know which Jesus is real? Which Jesus do you pick?

(Joh 15:16) Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

that verse came to mind.. its comforting thought..and truth too, if we have Jesus, it wasnt because we picked Him but He picked us.

People need to be challenged to obtain a Study Bible (not a pew Bible) and study it so that the Spirit can open their hearts and minds. Merely attending a bible believing church means nothing. A lot of people think merely showing up equals participating.

The obvious argument here is... following other Gods is not "practicing lawlessness"? Is it keeping his commandments?

I can't judged who is saved and who isn't, but I can give guidelines to watch out for. It sounds like you know Jesus to me, but I will say, I've heard these same sentences in the past.

"Following Buddha changed my life"
"The sayings of Confusious changed my life"
"The Ba'hai faith changed my life"
"Being a wiccan has caused me to love other people more"

Simply saying I follow (fill in the blank) and they changed my life doesn't mean a whole lot.

If you really know the Jesus of the Bible and he is in your heart, and these aren't just "canned replies" then praise God this message isn't for you.

Not long ago, I had some "elders" (who were actually young men) from a certain "church" come to my house. They were telling me I should join their church so that (he said this sentence with his eyes glazed over and the saddest look on his face) the "joy of God could fill my heart". (After he left, even my 12 year old daughter commented "It sounded like a line from a play rehearseal") I got the feeling, it was just something he was told to respond with.

They kept coming over to my house almost every week for a few months, we started praying together to "the Jesus of the Bible".
Both of these young men started coming to my church and got saved and baptized recently. Now when I see them, they don't have to tell me about the "joy of God" in their lives. It's evident on their faces and in their eyes.

Is it possible to know these things about Jesus without actually meeting Him? I think so, as much as there are "false Jesus" everywhere there are also false relationships everywhere created by religious thinking, traditions and teachings. The religious "relationship" is one sided, lacking a true Christ encounter, yet being familiar with Jesus Christ's biography without having actually met Him in reality.

Is following the law the same as following Christ? Is following Christ the same as following the law? Is being obedient to the law the same as being obedient to Christ?

The scriptures instruct us that there is only one way to truly follow Christ and it is NOT by using the law as a guide but rather being led by HolySpirit, period.

So why not encourage people to be led by HolySpirit and stop all the futile teaching about obedience to the law.

The purpose of the "Jewish Law" discussion was to say we needed to be saved from something. This stems from the belief some have that everyone is going to heaven. The Bible states this is not the case. Once we are saved, I agree with the rest you say here.

However "following the Spirit" is much like following "a Jesus" I posted in the original message.

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1Jn 4:2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;
1Jn 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.
1Jn 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
1Jn 4:5 They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them.

There is a large "Christian" denomination that doesn't believe Jesus rose from the dead in the flesh, yet millions of people are in this denomination.

You bring up a good point, not only does it matter which Jesus you follow.....
Which Spirit do you follow?

Will not a true relationship with the real Jesus result in obedience to the law? If any man have Christ, does not the love of God abide in him, and if love abides in him will he not be keeping the law, for love is the fulfilment of the law. Right? Contrariwise, is rejection of the law and the resulting disobedience to it a reflection of a false relationship?

No where in the law did it tell the Israelite to forgive ,bless and pray for their enemies. It did not tell them to overcome evil with good and it did not tell them to be careful for nothing. It did not tell them to pickup their cross and follow him it did not tell them to offer themselves a living sacrifice.Someone who has enough of the Spirit to do these things can be trusted in everything.

The law could never bring abundant life and refreshing it could only act as a sin detector and sin management system.

I follow the Lamb of God who was slain from the foundation of the world,he is the "Day"the"way"the"light" the "life" the "word" ,the "resurrection" and much much more.

1 So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
2 Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ will be of no benefit to you.3 I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses.4 For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.
5 But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us.6 For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.
7 You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth?8 It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom.9 This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough!10 I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you.
Gal 5:1-10 (NLT)

I think perhaps we may have gotten slightly off track from "Which Jesus..."

Perhaps this should be moved to "Are we under the Law"? But on second thought that may not fit either. That thread was meant to say "The non-saved (unbelievers) are still under the Law", it sounds like this discussion is more of a new thread.. "Are believers still under the law?"

NP but if I move every post that mentions or eludes to the keeping/breaking of the law wouldn't it include the OP?
"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
