Dito here. My parents went to a different church when I was 3 years old. The first church practiced childbaptism, but my parents came to believe that one should first believe and than be baptised and went to an other church (also for other reasons). So I was raised with the idea (and believe) that you get baptised AFTER you've made your decision for Christ, and the childbaptism doesn't count but is a gesture from the parents to raise their kids in faith and ask the churchmembers to help them do so.Sleepy said:I was baptised as a baby and I guess I see it as a welcome to the family of the church. A promise that the child will be nurtured and guided by the community of the church.
I was confirmed at 11 years and I see that as the point where I chose to acknowledge a faith in God. Publicly declaring my beliefs at the time.
