I prefer a rug of grass outdoors to a rug indoors...but to each his own.

As much as I esteem Tozer, it always rather troubles me when I read men of God who tell how many daily "hours" they spend in prayer, as tho that were the ideal to strive for. (edited to add, what you said was told ABOUT Tozer, so what i`m saying does not necessarily apply to him)

I think they should never tell such a thing, it seems as tho they are boasting...or contradict Christ who said "do not be like those who think they are heard for their long prayers"....you understand what I`m saying...

I pray anywhere and everywhere...often when i`m up to my elbows in chores...my days are a string of whispered prayers...as well as times alone with God when He bids me come...but really God does not exist by a clock...and He does not look at a time card...so our clocking in and clocking out, and spreading the notion that others aught to do the same, seems rather Pharisaical to me.

The one who shared the Gospel to me told me this,
"Do not look to people, always keep your eyes straight to Jesus. Someday, you might stumble because of other Christians...even with me... years of now, things can be different you could be the one reminding me about God's faithfulness."

As a young Christian it really worked for me, sometimes during those times and up to now, we can't help but look upon the church elders, leaders, mentors, seniors etc. The way they live their life and how they live up to what they say on the pulpit. Its quite tricky how we know, "Hey, we should keep our eyes to Him." but somewhere in between, the enemy manages to use other's life to pull us too. I think that's one good advice to a young Christian, to keep them from stumbling from other Christians.

Advice for a new Christian?
I think about when I was lukewarm in my
faith and didn't know much to really get
me started. If I could have advice earlier...

I would have wanted someone to tell me
NOT to avoid the hard life questions. Those
questions ended up biting me in the behind
later on even when God was pushing me
to read about it in His Word. When my friends
died I got angry with God, but never learned why
they left. I now am at peace. I got angry when
someone told me I am worthless because of my
gender and believed it because I didn't read deep enough.
I am now at peace with myself. I avoided the topic
of abortion and didn't stand up for those who couldn't
speak for themselves. I am now prepared with the
knowledge to help a woman who is thinking about abortion.

Had I listened to God earlier about learning the hard
questions, the questions no one wants to talk about,
I would have been more confident in my faith. I would
not have doubted God's grace and goodness.

i tell the youth around me all the time NOTHING can compare with the things of God ..all of this world will fade one day.
