Thorough his sacrifice on the cross, Jesus established a new and eternal covenant between God and human beings. This covenant is a covenant of love, in which, Christ the bridegroom, purifies his bride, the Church (the people of God) by sacrificing his own life. Furthermore, He maintains an intimate communion with his people by feeding them with His sacrificial body and blood. Through this communion, his people not only establish a personal relationship with him, but also make him the Lord of their lives. Therefore, at the celebration of His Last Supper when we re-enter his sacrifice on the cross, we are celebrating the wedding feast of the Lamb in which He gives himself completely to us and we by receiving him accept his life as ours. Since, how we love God goes hand in hand with how we love our fellow human beings, the above form of love must also be present in marriage; which is also a covenant of love. Therefore a husband must completely give himself to his wife and the wife must completely accept him as her life. Furthermore, just as God is always faithful to his covenant with us although we betray him and are unfaithful to him by our sins; we too must faithful to our covenant with our spouse even if there is betrayal and unfaithfulness.

The new covenant is made with ''the house of Israel and with the house of Judah''

Jesus was of the tribe of Judah and was sent to ''the lost sheep of the house of Israel'' (Matthew 15:24)
The Apostles were to preach to ''the lost sheep of Israel'' (Matthew 10:6)
The people of Jesus were also Israel(Matthew 1:21)

The new covenant is not with the world,God strictly chose Israel above other people.(Deuteronomy 7:6)
James was writing to the tribes when he wrote ''to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad''

''Scattered abroad'' in Strong's Greek is...

1290. diaspora dee-as-por-ah' from 1289; dispersion, i.e. (specially and concretely) the (converted) Israelite resident in Gentile countries:--(which are) scattered (abroad).

This is dispersed Israel from the Assyrian captivity,as Israel did not return to their homeland, yet were and are still in existence!

Matthew 18:11:For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

Luke 19:10:For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Only Israel was lost and needed saving from their sins as they were God's people.(Exodus 4:22)(Galatians 4:4-7)

1Co 11:25 NKJV In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

This covenant was with the Jew...

Mat_15:24 But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

And also with the Gentile...

Joh_10:16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

Rom_1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

So this covenant for the remission of sins leading to eternal life is for all who repent and believe the Gospel of Christ.

Joh_1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

WE follow our LORD JESUS Only! He was of the House of Judah! The New Priest tribe! We are grafted in as Jews of the priest house Judah!

1Pe_2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Rev_1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Rev_5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Heb_7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

Heb_7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Now His laws are written in our heart!

Rom_5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Rom_12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

Eph_3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

2Ti_1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

1Th_5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

1Jn_4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

1Jn_4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1Jn_4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

You are making a false connection between ''Jew'' and ''Israel''

Jesus stated ''I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel''
But Jesus also said to the Jews ''ye are not of my sheep''
The people of Jesus were Israel, the ministry was to Israel, but the Jews were not the sheep of Jesus.
John 10:27:My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

As for Romans 1:16 - ''Jew'' in that verse in Strong's Greek is...
2453. Ioudaios ee-oo-dah'-yos from 2448 (in the sense of 2455 as a country); Judaean, i.e. belonging to Jehudah:--Jew(-ess), of Judaea.

Judaean been a Geographic address and Jehudah been a Tribe.

Joh 10:26 NKJV But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.

Here Jesus was addressing the unbelieving Jews.

If you are suggesting Jews were no part of the sheepfold you are way of base.

Joh_4:22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

Act_21:39 But Paul said, "I am a Jew from Tarsus, in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city; and I implore you, permit me to speak to the people."

To Agua...

''salvation is of the Jews''

Salvation is NOT from a group of people, salvation is from Jesus.
Jews in that verse in Strong's Greek is..

2453.
Ioudaios ee-oo-dah'-yos from 2448 (in the sense of 2455 as a country); Judaean, i.e. belonging to Jehudah:--Jew(-ess), of Judaea.

For example,Salvation comes from Judea.
Jesus is our salvation, and Jesus is of the Tribe of Judah.

John 14:6:Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 3:15:That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

John 10:9:I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

As for Jews been part of the ''sheep fold''

John 8:33:They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

Various Jews were Abraham's seed through Esau/Edom NOT Judah as Esau/Edom had never been in bondage.

You cannot make a false connection between the state of Israel, the Israel of the Bible and the word ''Jew''

"Strictly speaking it is incorrect to call an ancient Israelite a "Jew" or to call a contemporary Jew an Israelite or a Hebrew." 1980 Jewish Almanac, P.3

Jesus was from Judea as were many Jews/Israelites.

Paul's "countrymen" were Israelites and Paul himself was a Jew.

Rom 9:3-5 NKJV For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, (4) who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; (5) of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.

Paul identifies himself as both a Jew and an Isaelite.

Act_21:39 But Paul said, "I am a Jew from Tarsus, in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city; and I implore you, permit me to speak to the people."

Rom 11:1 NKJV I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

In the NT "Jew" describes all Israelites or descendants Abraham through Isaac and Jacob.

Jew or Jews simply means a geographic address ''Judaean'' or Tribe ''belonging to Jehudah''

Luke 3:1:Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

Mark 10:1:And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

Matthew 19:1:And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;

Matthew 2:1:Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

In the NT how can ''Jew'' describe Israelites or descendents of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob, when it only means a geographic address?

The word ''Jew'' is a slang term...for example...

John 7:1:After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.(KJV)

John 7:1:After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.(New American Standard Bible)

The New Covenant

From Jeremiah:

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Explained: God prophesied of a new covenant to replace the old covenant of the fathers. In this covenant the man will be governed from within, not from without. The relationship will be directly between the individual and God. Since God will be indwelling the believer there will be no need for anyone to teach of who God is as the revelation will come from within through personal relationship. All sin will be forgiven and forgotten.

We are living in the days of the new covenant. If you are a believer who has entered into the covenant relationship with God then you should have received the Holy Spirit. It is this Spirit that will teach and guide you into all truth. It is following the leading of this Spirit though the written word of God which is alive and powerful that one has victory and begins to live his life in the Spirit being dead to the things of the flesh. If you haven't heard his voice and been taught by him then you may just be dull of hearing and need to pray for your hearing to be restored. Whatever the case, go to God for everything and he will direct your paths, including who comes to you.

In Christ the King,

Gary

The new covenant was made with the house of Israel and the house of Judah,it was not made with the world.
I think what people tend to forget is,who Israel is and where they disappeared to?
You remember how Israel was taken into Assyrian captivity?
They did not return to Samaria, but were taken in to Assyria,so what happened to them?
James was writing to these people when he wrote 'to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad''

Now ''scattered abroad'' in Strong's Greek is defined as .....

1290. diaspora dee-as-por-ah' from 1289; dispersion, i.e. (specially and concretely) the (converted) Israelite resident in Gentile countries:--(which are) scattered (abroad).

How can there be a spiritual Israel if a literal Israel existed and exists?

Amos 9:9:For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

I think Christians want a simple answer to their questions......or they may be afraid....

Amazed ...

I am kind of new to this and am kind of amazed at some of the postings.

I would encourage us as believers to not chew up one another over un important details that cause division, but to be glad over that which edifies and builds one another up.

This New Covenant we have is so precious. The writer of Hebrews repeats what was originally in Jeremiah as to how this new covenant was better than the old one that the Jews did not continue in. In the new covenant, He would put his laws on our minds and write them on our hearts. He promises that He would be our God and we would be His people.

I know from years of vain frustration and then the opposite ... let Him write on your heart by His Holy Spirit. It is wonderful that He cares enough to have His Holy Spirit do in our hearts what an eternity of my own futility could never do.

Your words fall flat on me. They are without meaning in my mind. I cannot understand what you are trying to say. It is as a great riddle to me. Can you be clearer? I can't see where you are beginning nor leading with your words. They seem pointless and empty.

I say all the above to help you see my perception of what you have written and not to accuse your words as being such. If I am blind then I am blind. If you speak gibberish then you speak gibberish. I cannot discern which is true.

The new covenant was made with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah.
It was not made with the world,it was made with the very people God chose as his special people.
Have you heard of the diaspora, how Israel went into Assyrian captivity and did not return to Samaria?

I know of but not well. I would have to go back to the OT to study the specific event and gain an understanding of it. I haven't studied it seeking that type of understanding. I only understood it as the steady downfall of the nation of Israel.

How can you state with any dogma that James was speaking in this manner to this specific people when using the terms to the dispersed? Can it mean anything else?

If Israel did not exist among the nations, then how would the covenants and prophecies in the Bible be fulfilled?

THE TEN TRIBES ARE CERTAINLY IN EXISTENCE, ALL THAT HAS TO BE DONE IS TO DISCOVER WHICH PEOPLE REPRESENT THEM."

Timothy 4:6 wrote, "When Paul was
sent by Festus on his appeal to Rome,
he traveled, after being acquitted,
into Spain, and thence extended his
excursions into other countries and
TO THE ISLANDS SURROUNDED BY
THE SEA.” (emphasis added). These
could only have been the British Isles.
This is no obscure cleric speaking but, the
Bishop of Cyropolis and a participant in
the General Council at Ephesus in A.D.
431 and at Chalcedon in A.D. 451 consisting
of 600 Bishops.

Eusebius, Bishop of Caesarea, wrote in
A.D. 320, "The Apostles passed beyond the
ocean to the isles called the Britannic
Isles."

Clement of Rome (mentioned in
Phil. 4:3) wrote a letter to the church at
Corinth between A.D. 91 and A.D. 100 in
which he stated that Paul "went to the
end of the west.”

"The Church of Avalon, in Britain, no
other hands than those of the disciples of
our Lord. themselves, built." Publius
Discipulus.

"The mother church of the British Isles
is the church in-Insula Avallonia, called
by the Saxons, Glastonbury." Bishop
Ussher.

"If credit be (given to ancient authors,
this church of Glastonbury is the senior
church of the world." Bishop Fuller.

"It is certain that Britain received the
faith in the first age from the first source
of the Word." Sir Henry Spillman.

"I scarcely know of one author from the
time of the fathers downwards, who does
not maintain that Paul, after his liberation,
preached in western Europe, Britain
included." Capellus, in his history of the
Apostles.

Thank you for your time. When understanding the bible, I try to eliminate the need for outside sources as they lend themselves to heresy.

I understand looking critically at the historical documents of those spoken of as Church fathers etc. I understand seeing the 'agreement' between the texts as reason to believe they may be a source of accuracy. But I stop short of seeing any of it as gospel truth. Instead it becomes to me a stumbling stone for scripture interpretation. We're these holy men of old being moved by the spirit as they spake? This making there work an extension of the bible? I find myself asking "If Gods word is perfect then why do I need another book, letter, etc to help me understand it?". According to scripture, I need nothing more than the Holy Spirit and the scriptures to understand all that God would have me. That said, I do need to understand the language with which I read.

As far as Strong's goes, it is good for what it is good for. I can use it to guide me into the various uses of a single word in scripture to aid me in understanding the range of meaning a word may have, wholly dependent upon the number of uses the word has in scripture. But to see a definition of a Greek word saying anything above and beyond 'dispersion' which the word means is only their trying to help me see the way the word was used in a particular sense. The word only means 'dispersed'.

James wrote to the dispersed indeed. I need to know whether this dispersed he wrote to is what you say it is or if it is something else. The letter that was written by James is written in form to 'believing' Jews. This would seem to call out unto only those who follow Christ and not be of those who were dispersed in the OT captivity necessarily. The fact that he wrote to believing Jews would make this contrary to that idea. There was another particular dispersion of the Jews in scripture that this could possibly allude to. The believing Jews were scattered abroad upon the stoning of Stephen. And only the Apostles were left in Jerusalem, including James (Acts 8:1-4) who would then have reason to write to those who were scattered abroad.

When working with me, one has to stay within the boundaries of the written word of God to make a point, except when it comes to understanding the languages of both the original manuscripts and their corresponding translations. I fear perversion is immanent otherwise.

Have a glorious day,

Gary

James did not write to the Jews, you have to understand that Jew is a slang term and simply means,in the Strong's Greek...

2453. Ioudaios ee-oo-dah'-yos from 2448 (in the sense of 2455 as a country); Judaean, i.e. belonging to Jehudah:--Jew(-ess), of Judaea.

Judaean which is a geographic address and Jehudah which is a Tribe.

There were many races in Judea.
I do not think you can limit it to only followers of the tradition of the elders(Talmud) were Jews.

Matthew 4:25:And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

When James was writing to the Tribes, these were Israel dispersed among the nations, though they were not known to the Assyrians as Israel.
Over time,Israel has had a name change, again and again.

ASSYRIAN CAPTIVES

In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. (2 Kings 17:6)
The first archaeological evidence to establish a chronological link in the contacts between Assyria and Israel are found on inscriptions on the side of a limestone stele found at Nimrud, known as the "Black Obelisk." The stone was inscribed with the records of Shalmaneser the third and an illustration of the Israelite king Jehu bringing tribute to the Assyrian king. An inscription above the illustration says:
"This is Jehu (Iaua), the son of Khumri (Omri)."

Omri in Hebrew begins with the consonant, "Agin," formerly called "Gayin" which was pronounced with a guttural "H," that is "Gh" or "Kh." The Israelites would have naturally pronounced Omri as "Ghomri" which became "Khumri" in Assyrian.
As this inscription was executed nearly a century before the captivity of Israel, we know now the reason secular historians found no mention of the exiled Israelites in ancient records. It was simply because the Assyrians who took the Israelites captive did not call them by that name. Historians are now aware of the fact that the Gamira were the same people, who, about 30 years later, during the reign of Esarhaddon, king of Assyria, again were called Gimira. (Notice the slight changes in spelling).
We find in another and later Assyrian tablet that in the second year of the reign of this same king, which would be about 679 B.C., the Gimira, under a leader named "Teuspa," sought freedom by moving north; but the Assyrain army pursued and defeated them in the upper Euphrates district. Nevertheless, they reported a large number of the lsraelites escaped to the shores of the Black Sea. The Greeks also recorded the same activity including an invasion of Sardis, the capital of Lydia, in 645 B.C. In their records they refer to the Gamira as "Kimmerioi," which we translate into English as "Cimmerian."
About 600 B.C. the Lydians drove the Gamira, or Cimmerians, out of Asia Minor, where they settled in the Carpathian regions west of the Black Sea. We find them called in the second book of Esdras, the people of Ar-Sareth (2 Esdras 13:40-44).

We now also know what happened to the larger body of Gamira or Israelites, that did not escape the Assyrians. They formed an alliance with Esarhaddon, the king, when he came under attack of the Medes and the Persians.
This treaty allowed the Israelites to establish colonies in Sacasene in the north and Bactria in the east. With absolutely no help from the Israelites, Assyria fell in 612 B.C. Soon the Israelites themselves came under attack by the Medes.
Now those that had settled in Sacasene moved north through the Dariel Pass into the steppe regions of south Russia. There they became known by the Greek name, "Scythians."
The Israelites that had settled in Bactria were forced north and east, and in the records of the Persians they were called Massagetae and Sakka.
Archeology has solved two of the greatest archeological problems: First, what happened to the hundreds of thousands of Israelites who disappeared south of the Caucasus; and second, what was the origin of the Cimmerians and the mysterious nomadic tribes, known as Scythians, who suddenly appeared north of the Caucasus - both at the same time in history. They were one and the same people. They were Israelites. Now may I point out what the Bible has to say concerning these same people:
"For lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth" (Amos 9:9).
Our history books pick up the story at this point, recording the westward migrations of the Scythians, as they came into collision with the Cimmerians, who had earlier settled west of the Black Sea. Their kinship lost over the centuries, the ensuing battles forced the Cimmerians west and north to become the Celts, Gauls, and Cimbri. By the end of the fourth century B.C., the Scythians had established themselves as the great and prosperous kingdom of Scythia. Later, the Sarmatians, these were a mixed, non- Israelitish people of Iranian origin. They in turn drove the Scythians northwest to the shores of the Baltic Sea. At this time in history, we find the Romans introduced the name "Germans" in place of the name Scythians, in order not to confuse the Scythians with the Sarmatians, who now occupied Scythia. Germanus, being the Latin name for "genuine," indicates the Germans were the genuine Scythians.
During this time the Celts were expanding in all directions from central Europe. Some of the Celts invaded Italy and sacked Rome in 390 B.C. Another group moved back into Asia Minor, in 280 B.C., and the Greeks called them "Galatians," as they did another group of Celts that had settled in Gaul, or modern France. This also indicates that Paul's letters to the Galatians were written to his kinsmen Israelites, or at least descendants of the earlier Galatians.
Some of the Celts moved into Spain and became known as Iberes, the Gaelic name for "Hebrews." Others poured into Britain to form the bedrock of the British race. Later, the Iberes moved into Ireland as Scots, and later into Northern Britain to establish the nation of Scotland.
Your history books also record the Germanic tribes breaking up into many divisions - the Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Danes, and Vikings, to name just a few. Other Germanic tribes later poured into the lands vacated by the Celts and established the Gothic nations of the Vandals, Lombards, Franks, Burgundians, and others.
The so-called "lost tribes of Israel" really, were never lost. They only lost their identity as they migrated westward over the centuries from the land of their captivity.

Let me ask this,if the Apostles were followers of Judaism and Israel is the modern Jews,though the Jews claim their descent through Khazars and Edom;
Besides that,If the Twelve Tribes were Jews, how could Paul state this...

Acts 26:7:Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

If the Jews were Israel, why would they accuse someone of one of their tribes?

In Acts 11:26 ''And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.''

Here we have the division, the Apostles were already called Christians,Paul knew about the twelve tribes and was accused by the Jews.

To put the icing on the cake,in John 8:33:They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

No Jew could say that if they were truly the chosen people as they would have been in bondage many times!(At that time they were in bondage to the Romans)
(They were Abraham's seed through Esau,as the Jews claim descent through Edom,The JEWISH ENCYCLOPEDIA, edition of 1925, Vol. 5, page 41, states "Edom is in modern Jewry.")

There is no getting around these facts,Israel has their migrations and the Jews have their descent through Esau and the Khazars.

Genesis 28:14:And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

Only Israel has scattered all across the world, not the state of Israel, true Israel who is blind to their lineage.(Romans 11:25)
