These six things the Lord hates; Indeed, seven are repulsive to Him Proverbs 6:16 AMPC
God offered a list indicating life change id delayed by personal choice. This list touches on areas of the Christian life that may be keeping you from new-life living.
Perhaps God hates the actions in Proverbs 6 because they’re all choices that cripple relationship. There’s a rejection of God’s best in favor of personal choice. Proverbs 6:17-19 AMPC offers the list: A proud look (the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others), a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that creates wicked plans, feet that run swiftly to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies (even half-truths), and one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers.
Pride won’t show love because it believes no one is worthy. Lies are told to protect self but keep you from honorable living. Murder removes the value of God’s creation but destroys one of God’s master creations. Plotting evil refuses to look out for the interests of others. Running swiftly to evil means you are intentionally moving away from God. False witness means you have predetermined to refuse to speak truth. Spreading discord causes family members to battle each other.
Prayer: Dear God, I want to be someone who shows others what Your love looks like. I can’t do that when I act on any of the things in Your Proverbs 6 list. Help me reject what You hate and share what You love.
