I think its sad how we as a people supposedly of faith, focus so much on knowing scripture more (which in itself is good) and barely scratch the surface when it comes to increasing our spiritual muscles which does not fall within our intellectual pursuit. For although its by faith we are saved, most christians seem to think once that bridge is crossed, all we need is more knowledge to be perfect as Christ our savior is perfect.
I am curious how we "increase our spiritual muscles". I wouldn't say "all" we need is more knowledge. but it is knowledge that saves us as equally as faith.
1 Tim 2:3; This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
1 Tim 2:4; who desires all men to be saved and to come to the
knowledge of the truth.
Rom 10:1; Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.
Rom 10:2; For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God,
but not in accordance with knowledge.
Rom 10:3; For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
Rom 10:4; For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Col 1:9; For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled
with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
Col 1:10; so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
What is the difference between someone in a "Christian" cult and a "true Christian". Plain and simple it's knowlwdge of the truth.
2 Tim 3:2; For men will be ....
2 Tim 3:5; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
2 Tim 3:6; For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,
2 Tim 3:7; always learning and
never able to come to
the knowledge of the truth.
2 Pet 1:3; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through
the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
2 Pet 1:4; For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
2 Pet 1:5; Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence,
knowledge,
2 Pet 1:6; and
in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,
2 Pet 1:7; and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.
2 Pet 1:8; For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in
the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Pet 1:9; For
he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.
I know a good many "spiritual" people who aren't saved. By the same token in your claim about knowledge, I could say...
"many christians seem to think once that bridge is crossed, all we need is to be more spiritual to be perfect as Christ our savior is perfect."
