I found this article today online and thought it interesting.
But I realize this is someone else's opinion and graph.

If California were its own country, its economy would be equivalent to that of Italy.
Texas would be Russia. Alaska, you have a lot in common with Oman – economically speaking, anyway. New York, your nearest economic equivalent is Australia.
