Hi,
I wanted to ask what do you think about this analysis on the verse 5:12 from the psalms (its good to read in concept):

(Psa 5:12) For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

it's like Favour of righteous,

The Lord blesses His righteous showing favor in those who He has saved

?

God bless.

I think it's just beautiful, such reassurance.

grace is unmerited favour

He will compass in and around and about us always.
as a compass covers the four corners of the earth.

Psalm 91 V 4
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Righteousness and blessing

It's difficult (but not impossible) for God to bless rebellious people who are ignoring Him.

It is much easier for God to show favor to His children who are walking with Him in righteousness, and are seeking His blessing.

The effective prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much. James 5:16 Because that person knows God and His will, and seeks God's blessing and favor.

Makes sense really...

2 Cor.5.

21For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Only through Jesus are we righteous. We need to be in right relationship with Jesus. Keep short accounts with God.

God bless

It's not through anything that we have done, that's for sure,

Jesus did it all on the cross of Calvary, He is the Righteous One.

God the Father sees us through the blood of Jesus His Son.

We are covered in His blood, His Rigteousness.
Isaiah 64 v 6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

......................

"a shield" = zinnah A shield of the largest size to cover the whole body. It is found in the Psalms here, and in 35:2...91:4 Compare with 1 Sam 17:7

The shield here is the favour or grace of Jehovah.

What a precious and wonderful truth. God covers us with His Favour and with His Grace, which is like a large shield covering our whole body

We receive it gladly in Jesus

Two kinds of Righteousness

There are two kinds of righteousness that are talked about in the New Testament.

1) The first kind is the righteousness that God imparts.
It is graciously given by God regardless of our moral or sinful condition.
It is about God legally declaring that we are completely justified because Jesus has paid our penalty in full, with his sacrifice on the cross.
This righteousness brings about a relationship with our Holy God...and Salvation.
We can do nothing to earn or merit this wonderful bestowment of righteousness from God, we simply receive it by faith.

2) The second kind of righteousness involves our response to God's gift of righteousness.
It is our effort (made in cooperation with the Holy Spirit) to become more like Jesus.
God wants us to grow in Him, and live lives worthy of Him.
This righteousness does not in any way affect or enhance our salvation status!!!

Our moral condition or behaviour, no matter how good, cannot save us!
If we have the second kind of righteousness without the first, we are doomed.

God wants us to start with His gift of righteousness and embrace it.
Then, as we continue to walk in obedience to Him and allow the Holy Spirit to sanctify us, we are able to live for Him as holy and moral representatives of Christ Jesus our Lord.

God wants us to be righteous people!

Total agree sis.

This is God's mercy in our lives. That's why we see mean, rude, abusive people living in a mansion with 5 lamborghinis!!!
