With me, it's hypocracy and empty words, especially at a funeral. You know the scene... two people embrace outside the church:
"Oh, Anthea DhAAAling it's so long - we really must keep in touch. Let me have your address..." So out comes the address book and exchange of phone numbers, knowing full well that the next time Anthea and Isobel will meet will be at the next "family " funeral.
Or even worse than that is the thought of a load of distant cousins, nephews etc. who never had the time of day for you, suddenly turning up at your funeral and coming out with: "Well, I suppose we ought to pay our respects..." NO THANK YOU!
