What About Ghosts??

Hi.. Im just curious.. The bible says that everyone , including the ones who are in the grave, is waiting for the coming of the Lord.. So that means that the dead ones are "sleeping" right? What about ghosts that we often hear about? Many people even claim that they've seen them! I really want to know the answer.. thank you so much! God bless you all..!!

This may sound weird, or even heretic or blasphemous to some Christians, but yes, I have seen a spirit. It was about 2 years ago, as I lay in bed falling asleep, I felt a presence and I was afraid, I looked over my shoulder as I normally lay with my head towards the wall, and I saw an old man, about the same height as me, about 1.8 metres and he had a staff, or walking stick in his hand, he had long white hair and he just looked at me, about 3 metres away from me.

I was 20 years old at the time and I just switched on my bed light and he was gone, I prayed to God to never allow me to witness something like that again, I'm not sure about the spirit world, I believe people die and go to paradise, but why God chose to show me that spirit was and is beyond me, it was no figmant of my imagination and the first thought that came into my mind was King David.

I would also appreciate scripture references to this issue, God is doing so many things in my life through Talk Jesus, questions about salvation, curses, discipline and death, love, everything I have wanted to know about for such a long time is being answered, I am blessed beyond comprehension.

When it comes to spirits, we need to be carefull or we could end up like Joseph Smith... There are good angels and good spirits, and bad spirits, bad angels as well. So be carefull with spirits as some are suducing. The Holy Spirit is enough for us, as he will lead us into all truth.:star:

Bad angels, you mean Satan. Angel who have turn bad?? The Bible tell us the angels are here to help us. No where in the Bible have I seen a bad Angels except Satan.

Bad angels include satan and all the fallen angels (devils/demons)

Revelation 12:9
This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

These scriptures tell of how angels have fallen and that the ones who have fallen belong to satan.

I would like to say that I believe in ghost or at least an extraordinary power of some kind, for I have experienced this myself.
When I was young my friends mom got murdered on the 18 floor of my building by a man that lived on the same floor as me, and his uncle commited suicide by jumping off the balcony. Ever since then weird sounds and noises would be consistent in his appartment. I will never forget the time my friends grandma went to use the washroom in the same appartmen, she closed the door and locked it from the inside. Me and my friend were right across from the washroom in his room with the door open when the door handle started to shake violently, she told us to stop shking it and that it was not funny but we were right there watching it shake back and forth. No joke. I dont know what it was but it was not human. I dident see what it was but something was moving the handle?

Another time in the same building, at another friends house, I had spent the night, but in the late hours of the night the record player went on full blast by it self with little white lights sourrounding it. I was in the room by myself when this happend. I was to scared to move and my friends dad had to come in the room to turn it off. Again I dont know what it was but it was not human.

Mediums and spiritists were rife in OT times and they are still around today because spirits do exist. The only detailed "ghost story" I know of in Scripture is in 1 Sam 28:1-14, the story of Saul consulting the witch at Endor to bring up the spirit (ghost) of Samuel.

Spiritism is forbidden under Mosaic Law.

Hi Iluvjesus, Sheol or Hades is the world of the dead, I believe its where those who have not accepted salvation through Christ Jesus go when they die to await judgement. Just make sure that the first time you meet Jesus, is not after you die!

There is a saying "Curiousity killed the cat." It can also kill your Spirit when as a christian, we take too much interest in the underworld, that is not from God. Or as some people call it, the "paranormal".

Many, many years ago, I took quite an interest in the paranormal. It can be exciting and titillating, but it's wrong. At one time when I was 21 years old (a million years ago) my 1st husband and I lived in a house that had active spirits in it. They presented themselves as ghosts, or spirits of dead people that had already lived there.

If I were ever to encounter anything like these "ghosts" at this time of my life, or in the last 15 years, I would now know enough to say, "Get out of this home and stay away from my family, in Jesus name!" Because, as children of God, that is what we should do. Test the spirits, the bible says, to make sure they are of God. If they are not from God, get rid of them and "fo-get about-em"

God is too good, too rich in mercy, too perfect, too beautiful, to Holy,
to Omnipotent......for us to give glory to ghosts and evil. That is why I don't care for Halloween, by the way.

Well the answer is No.. The bible clearly calls them angels.

1 a : a spiritual being superior to humans in power and intelligence; especially : one in the lowest rank in the celestial hierarchy

this is the definition of Angel. Being a angel doesnt always mean good.... please show me scripture that says all angels are good.

This sounds exactly like something my mom used to tell me when I grew up, thank you for sharing auntie Dreamer, a Christian does not need to put up with the devil and his creatures, we have power through Jesus to stop all and any such activity in our homes, as I said on the first page, I prayed to God and asked Him to take it away, and He has.

There's a story I heard about Smith Wigglesworth, the 19th century English evangelist, that illustrates the kind of confidence we can have in our relationship with God:

It seems that Wigglesworth was asleep one night when he woke up suddenly and the room was bone-chilling cold. He sat up and there at the foot of the bed stood the devil himself. Wigglesworth looked at him, said "Oh, its you", rolled over and went back to sleep.

Hi brother:star: bad angels are reserved by God for judgement. Not seeing them in action doesn't mean they dont exist.


2Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
