For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. Galatians 3:26-27 NLT
Through your union with Jesus Christ and baptism into His family, you have received a new identity that you can never lose to anything in this world. However, while nothing can separate you from Christ, you can choose to leave that new identity behind much like someone who leaves a new set of clothes behind at home. You have been reconciled with God and have the identity of His beloved child. That is a truth you can claim today as your own. You can choose to “wear” it or you can discard it.
While there is nothing you can do to change your position in Christ, how have you left it behind at times? Have you let the distractions and priorities of life interfere with the saving power of God in your life? The opportunities for obscuring this transforming position in Christ are many. Perhaps the best step you can take to secure this truth today is to seek out someone who is joined in Christ with you.
Seeing the life of God in others may remind you of what you’ve also inherited in Christ.
Prayer: Father, help me rest secure in my identity as Your child.
