Let us hold fast the confession of [our] hope without wavering, for He who promised [is] faithful. Hebrews 10:23

Buy a product, and you might waver in your opinion of the purchase. It’s possible the product never actually delivered on its promise, or it might have failed along the way. Watch a movie and discover your opinion wavering between a waste of time and something more memorable.

Your opinions can waver about almost everything. You like a certain restaurant, but struggle when it comes time to decide if that’s where you really want to eat. When it comes to your relationship with God, you shouldn’t waver. Your trust in Him doesn’t need to change, and your hope in God will never disappoint.

Wavering means “being prone to a divided opinion.” Either God is good or He isn’t. He loves or He doesn’t. He can rescue or He can’t. If God has proven faithful, then wavering in your opinion of Him doesn’t make sense. Chances are you’ve felt some doubt. Perhaps you’ve wavered. You’re not alone. Jesus told a man who came to Him for help that he should believe. The man’s reply? “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24).

God doesn’t want you to waver in your belief, but He knew this would be an issue for all mankind. Spend time remembering the faithfulness of God, and discover a harmony between what you believe and the God you believe in.
