We are told to walk in the Spirit, and many of think we ARE walking in the Spirit. If that's the case though, why do we have so much confusion and strife between the saints? Do we even know what walking in the Spirit is? We read Matthew Henry's commentaries as though they were gospel..We hang on every word uttered by our pastors, by gospel greats, whoever they are to the listener. These people are not bad teachers but they only share with you their understanding of the Word, for the most part. Did they ask the Holy Spirit to teach them what they share with you? Or is it their own fleshly intelligence interpreting for you? The Word says that the fleshly mind, intelligence, cannot begin to understand the things of the Spirit yet the fallen one has convinced us that we need to interpret the Word using that same fleshly intelligence. Why? It makes us feel smart to come up with an answer to a scripture? Not really considering the confusion cause by our sharing our conclusions. So....How do we walk in the Spirit and avoid all the confusion? How often does any of us read something in the Book and simply ask the Holy Spirit to open it to us? And upon opening it to us, how many of us walk in that enlightenment? How many of us ask the Holy Spirit what we should answer the person who snapped at us, who slandered our reputation or did any number of hurts to us? How many of us ask the Holy Spirit to guide us throughout our day? How many of us tune Him out as He tries to steer us safely and prosperously through our day? The truth is, if you tune Him out, you are NOT walking in the Spirit....If you ignore Him while He's talking to you, and He's trying continually to get through to you, you are NOT walking in the Spirit.
James 1:5
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all generously and without reproach; and it will be given to him.
On the job?
Exodus 31:3
I have filled him with the Spirit of God — with wisdom, understanding and knowledge concerning every kind of artisanry.

So we're to rely on the wisdom of God, not the wisdom that consists of mere rhetoric.

To put it simply then, Walking in the Spirit is simply listening to the Holy Spirit, obeying Him and learning from Him.

Where it comes to the Word, listening to the Holy Spirit, obeying Him and learning from Him.
Where it comes to interacting with others? Simply listening to the Holy Spirit, obeying Him and learning from Him.
Finances, Healing deliverance in tight places....Simply listening to the Holy Spirit, obeying Him and learning from Him.

So.....Do we walk in the Spirit? Or have we been fooling ourselves?

Greetings,

consider Jesus.... Who knew no sin.

What do we base our understanding on? The Tree of Life or the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?

In the same manner, what do we base our decisions on? Even love?

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: and that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
For He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

2Corinthians 5:14-21

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: Colossians 1:5-6

Rom 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
